The Team: Full-backs

Luca "Bomber" Bruni

A younger member of CPR's ever-replenishing Milanese contingent, Luca is a powerful full-back/midfielder whose specialty is bombing forward at every opportunity, hurdling over opponents to fire in booming shots at goal. Not your average Italian defender.

Luca is a vehement defender of his beloved Internazionale, and has waged a one-man war to clear their name in the foreign media. Or at least, to get them called by the right name. Refer to them as 'Inter Milan' only at your own risk.

Luca has recently taken on the job of shadowing John Andrews in his role as club secretary, and is clearly being groomed for higher things... perhaps one day club president ? At the start of the 04-05 season Luca suffered a serious injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. Hopefully it won't be too long till he pulls on a CPR shirt again.

Ken "Feed the Goatee" Cowdery

Tough-tackling full-back, and dogged man-marker.

Ken's ability to shut down opponents has often led to him being used to nullify the opposition's danger men. However, recently Ken has been given more of a licence to roam into forward positions, and has proved to be a useful wide man when the team is going forward.

The former scourge of the changing rooms, Ken has now turned over his racket to the young Turks, who he has coached in the ways of CPR's financial system - a labyrinthine spreadsheet whose arcane secrets are known only to a select few. Although he now keeps his distance from the nitty-gritty, week-to-week details, Ken still hates it when people don't pay their subs.

Paul "Lord of the Wings" Dawson

Tall and stylish left-back, with a bit of a taste for linking up with the midfield, bombing down the wing and swinging over dangerous crosses. Despite this, Paul's goal tally remains a solitary two (one with either foot, as he insists on telling anyone who will listen). However, he always weighed in with a few assists via his carefully flighted free-kicks and crosses.

Paul keeps himself in shape through a carefully planned regime of parties, booze and as many women as he can handle. The leader of the 'CPR Swingers Club' (see Tyler Wendleken and Chris Davis), Paul has upped the stakes by deciding to jack in his well-paid job in IT to become an airline pilot. It's unclear whether this was because it was a lifelong ambition or because it'd help him pull. Sadly, this high-flying lifesetyle took Paul away from London and Saturdays in the West End League, but he will always remain one of us.

Simon "The Professor" Evans

Role model for young children.

Newly arrived to CPR this season, Simon has very quickly become a fixture in the team thanks to his intelligent passing, strong running (only forwards), vision and skill. Occasional flashes of temper are surely just a release from having to teach that bunch of second-years every Tuesday.

A smooth mover both on and off the pitch, Simon is never seen out on a Saturday night without his partner-in-crime Steve Newman. Together they do their bit to bring a little happiness into the lives of disturbed Ukrainian refugees and pissed-up young mothers the length and breadth of Islington.

Jim Eyre

Silky smooth left full-back

Slight but speedy and very talented, Jim gives CPR that touch of flair down the left flank, and his crosses cause opposition defences no end of trouble.

Jim's enthusiasm for the game is never in doubt, as he usually rolls up in his hoodie, shorts and socks like he's just come from a kickabout in the park. Displayed his loyalty to CPR by driving up from Fleet to Victoria Park just to be the 11th man, and helping the team to get a valuable point.

Jon "The Guvnor" Murray

Tough little terrier.

One of the more experienced members of the team, having played football in parks all over London, Jon makes up in years what he lacks in inches. Pacey, determined and strong in the tackle, he is a great man to have in the team when things get tough.

Jon's secret past as a Millwall hard nut truly came to light during the team's 2001 Milan tour, when he expressed his true character through a range of clobber that would not have looked out of place in The Den circa 1981.
