CPR and Mavericks have a fair bit of history between them, so it was a surprise to most that they faced off against each other in a pre-season friendly.  More surprising perhaps was that the only incident of ill feeling centered around our gallic opponents using the French word for ‘mine’ on goal kicks.

However, the game took place on a cartilage crushing astro pitch from the 90s, so sliding two-footed into their faces was never really an option.

Mavericks took the spoils with a 4-2 win, Scott nodding us ahead, and Rich W tapping in the second. Les Bleues nicked their first before half time, then notched their lead following a couple of long range efforts and one of the most blatant penalties in history.
